By Plane

Puerto Princesa is a city located some 560kms southwest of Manila. To get there, we highly recommended you book a flight with one of the major Philippine carriers. All major airlines in the country – Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia, conduct multiple daily flights to and from the city.

If you’re a foreign traveler, you’ll most likely make an initial stopover in Manila, Cebu, or Davao, before a connecting flight to Puerto Princesa. Recently, however, Puerto Princesa has begun accommodating international flights as well.

The main gateway to the city is the Puerto Princesa International Airport. The new terminal was inaugurated in May 2017, and with it the accommodation of international flights. As of now, the airport connects Puerto Princesa to the following destinations:

Philippine Airlines: Cebu, Manila, and Taipei, with plans to expand trips to Busan and Seoul
Cebu Pacific: Cebu, Iloilo, and Manila
AirAsia: Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Manila

Aside from the flag carriers, the Puerto Princesa International Airport also hosts flights from smaller, regional flight services, namely AirSWIFT (conducting flights to El Nido), and Air Juan (conducting flights to San Vicente, Cuyo, Busuanga, and Sipalay)

By Ferry

Another option is to travel to the city by ferry. Domestic ferries carry passengers from the Port of Puerto Princesa to other parts of the Philippines like Manila, Iloilo and Mindoro.

The Port of Puerto Princesa is located at the eastern coast, and is the base port of the Philippine Ports Authority in the province. As such, the port not only receives passenger ships but also cargo ships and government vessels.

Ferries are less expensive and preferred by domestic travelers coming from nearby islands, but this mode of transportation is time-consuming and not recommended for tourists with limited time.

Another recent development in Puerto Princesa is the proliferation of cruise ships making a stop at the city. These are from international cruises exploring the South China Sea or the Asia Pacific. Often, the ships stop by to allow its guests to visit the Subterranean River Park.
